Neues von Bosko und Honey aus Australien:

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Well, we are finally back in Australia (and online!).
Back in the rainforest of Kuranda, we are looking forward to a tropical festive season with friends and family...

Here are two appropriately Christmassy videos for you...

The first is a music video we shot in Japan...
It is from Gensblue - a terrific guy, performer and new best friend.
Gens-san utilizes a unique \\\"walking bass\\\" style - unlikely to have been attempted to such a degree before with ukulele...
ALL THAT UKULELE CHRISTMAS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVo55iGvOh8

The second you may have seen before, posted by KEONEPAX on YouTube.
We joined the lovely John Pak for the second time in Japan to record a Christmas tune, and he even did the editing - what a treat!
WINTER WONDERLAND
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAT_TlY6wY8

So, we are gradually getting settled again, and will be back editing more Safari videos just as soon as Santa heads back north...

Until then, we hope you enjoy the videos and have a great holiday!

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It is impossible to describe how wonderful it was for us to be able to travel the world this past year -3 continents and 12 countries over 11 months...

We both look back with real gratitude, and we are amazed that such a crazy idea actually succeeded in becoming reality...

It might be obvious to some, but you know, people are truly, really wonderful!
Everywhere we went we found such kindness, interest and... optimism.
Is it the ukulele? Is it us? Is it the wonders of our privilege of instant communication via the internet?
We made many friends... sometimes we could not speak the same language, often we were from completely different backgrounds, yet we shared the intimacies of familiarity and friendship.

We worked hard to save for this trip, but we would not have been able to do it without the real support of family, friends, and these same people we met along the way - you know who you are!
You invited us into your home and fed us... perhaps you bought our CD... or watched our videos and enjoyed them... you donated... you came to our performances and clapped and said hi afterwards or even asked us to sign your ukulele case!
We\\\'re very, very grateful to you all for these and many other manifestations of kindness and trust...

We honestly do not know what 2009 will bring - we have some ideas of general direction, but really we are happy to let it develop a bit later (perhaps once the Safari Videos are completed!)

It may be 2009, but the Ukulele Safari continues!

We wish you All the Very Best,
Happy New Year!
Love,

Bosko and Honey

Here is our latest update.

We\\\'re sending out this email to everyone on our mailing list to let you all know how we\\\'re doing.

Life back in Kuranda is very pleasant. The weather is perfect this time of year, and we\\\'ve managed to emerge from the cyclone season unscathed. We\\\'re living in a small and cheap apartment,  both working hard to save some money for another project - yes, we\\\'ve decided we want to continue the Ukulele Safari...
Bosko is slowly catching up on editing the 2008 videos, and the next ones will be of our return to Japan last September, with a number of shared songs to look forward to. Then we\\\'ll start filling in the gaps: all those people and places we skipped over will be edited with our increased experience and skill to make it worth the wait!
This includes episodes from the USA, Europe and the UK, as well as from our first time in Japan (which is over a year ago now!)

We\\\'re also busy creating a showreel of the Safari project, which we\\\'ll be pitching to producers who may be interested in working with us to turn the Safari 2008 (or the next one) into commissioned television content and/or a DVD series.
While we feel this is certainly within the realm of possibility, we are also completely satisfied if the Safari never leaves YouTube (and our memories)!

It\\\'s also timely and exciting that it\\\'s now official: there will be a ukulele festival held here in Cairns next year!
It\\\'s called CAIRNS UKEFEST 2010, and will be on the 3rd and 4th of July right here in Tropical North Queensland!
This will be the first major ukulele festival held in Australia, and is being run as a non-profit organisation with the full support of the local council. Right now they\\\'re in the process on securing the funding and sponsorship needed to create what will hopefully be a major event and attraction to the area.
We\\\'ll be helping out in various ways, and are very excited to be involved. More news as it comes to hand....

As some of you may know, the sad news surfaced late last week that ukulele virtuoso John King has passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. We feel a real and deep sadness, having met John twice and experienced his good-natured warmth and sublime music. He continues to be an inspiration to us and countless others, as testified to by the huge number of online messages and tributes flowing all over the world. Bosko has written some more about John in his blog.

If you haven\\\'t visited our website or YouTube page for a while, here are some videos you may have missed:

Our visit to the Aquila string factory in Vicenza, Italy, where you see the incredible process of making real gut strings:

A shared song and interview with the incredible Kamatetsu in Tokyo:

And a Music Video we shot here in Kuranda for a ukulele visitor from Japan, Hirasakana Oyogu:

We hope you enjoy them, and please visit us at http://ukulelesafari.com anytime, and drop us an email whenever the urge takes you!

Here is our latest update.

This is another mailout to members of Bosko & Honey\\\'s website...

For a while we have been wanting to give members some kind of benefit for their membership, and now we can...

Do not get too excited, but for the ukulele players among you we have created a \\\"Ukulele Tips\\\" page.
Although it is located in the main menu, you will have to \\\"log in\\\" to access the contents... a treasure trove of secret ukulele knowledge awaits you!
Actually, not exactly... but there is one \\\"lesson\\\" there!
It is a fretboard map and explanation that will give you the tools to be able to find and play ANY major, minor or dominant 7 chord... each of them in five (5!) different positions... and all without even glancing at a chord book!
Or at least it will with a bit of practice...

Anyway, we intend to upload video tips and other bits and pieces in the future, just things that have been helpful to us, and might be to you...
so feel free to check it out if you\\\'re that way inclined (remember to log in):

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.
In case you have not seen them, here are three very different Ukulele Safari episodes from Japan you might like:

1. An original instrumental collaboration with Gensblue in Yokohama
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11367

2. An original ukulele-themed song written by Nyaomi (of Taka&Nyaomi) especially for the Safari, in Tokyo
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11372

3. And a different approach to the Safari shared song... a Daisy Dobuyuki original recorded in Chiba

We hope you enjoy them!

More \\\"Ukulele Tips\\\" coming soon!

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

This is a mail out to all Bosko and Honey subscribers!

Hello!
Well, we are nicely settled into life back home, and are already concocting our next project (you are among the first to know!):

UKULELE SAFARI AUSTRALIA!
We are planning for early February until the end of April 2010, and hope to circumnavigate the country visiting uke players, clubs and makers.
This time we plan to:
- travel in a camper-van or motor-home (the safari-mobile!)
- fly two ukulele performer friends from two different countries (you know them from Safari 2008!) to Australia to join us as co-hosts and fellow travellers!
- produce the Australian Ukulele Safari for the Web, DVD, CD and TV!

We are obviously really excited, and have done some math showing that if we work really hard from today till the end of January 2010, we will be able to save the money needed to fund this project...
Of course, we will also try to secure support, sponsorship and funding, but we wanted to know if it were possible to self-fund before we put out word!
Bosko is gonna work 7 days a week and draw LOTS of caricatures!!!

So, if you live in Australia, and want to be part of a Ukulele Safari 2010, please contact us!

In other news, the Cairns Ukulele Festival scheduled for July next year has undergone some administrative changes, resulting in Bosko and Honey no longer being directly involved.
See our post here:
http://ukulele.spots.com.au/index.php?pid=11348 for more details, and a link to the Official Festival Website.

What else?
Oh, Bosko turned 40, and we had a lovely trip to Melbourne visiting family and friends... and we even got some ukulele action in...
http://ukulele.spots.com.au/index.php?pid=11381
http://ukulele.spots.com.au/index.php?pid=11382

The latest Safari 2008 video is an interview with Tony and Margaret, the Canadian filmmakers who have almost completed their documentary MIGHTY UKE...
The interview took place in Tokyo:
http://ukulele.spots.com.au/index.php?pid=11391

There are many more Safari 2008 episodes to come, and Bosko just hopes he finishes them before the next Safari begins!!!!

Much Love,

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Yet another newsletter to all Bosko & Honey subscribers!

Well, we are slowly getting on with the business of conceiving and organising UKULELE SAFARI AUSTRALIA 2010...
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11395

We can now confirm the 2 international guests who will be joining us as co-hosts:
SEESO from Chicago...
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11396
and most recently, GENSBLUE from Tokyo!
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11420

It is really exciting because these guys are both great performers and personalities, and also have very contrasting styles - the music we make together is going to be extremely interesting, and the travelling is going to be FUN!

We have made a start contacting uke clubs and groups, and are also looking for individuals who may like to receive a visit from the Safari crew. Anyone who would like to participate in any way (to have us perform/conduct a workshop etc, or to be interviewed/do a shared song - or just to meet!) is most welcome to contact us. Also, if you know of anyone anywhere in the country who may not be aware of the project, or have a suggestion for someone to visit, we\\\'d be very grateful for any help you can give!

Our latest brain wave is the possibility of doing the Safari in a small bus - so other players/performers can hitch a ride and come along with us for a while! We hope this eventuates, as it would really be something! It just depends on finding and being able to afford the right vehicle.

In other Australian news, the Inaugural MELBOURNE UKULELE FESTIVAL has been announced, and will run from the 26th of February till the 2nd of March next year. The Ukulele Safari crew will be playing on the opening night! Please visit the Melbourne Ukulele Kollective website for all the details:
http://www.muk.com.au/gpage.html

Also, Ray Gurney of Sydney is putting together a CALENDAR of AUSTRALIAN UKE GATHERINGS, together with a blog and YouTube channel, under the banner of \\\"UkeOz\\\"...

And finally, the latest Ukulele Safari 2008 videos:
A shared song with TARASUNA (check out his beautiful pineapple 8-string!) in Nagano, Japan:

Ravel\\\'s \\\"Pavane pour une infante défunte\\\" performed by DA-IMA in Tokyo:

and a shared song with HAPPY HOPPY in Chiba, Japan:

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

This is going out to members of http://ukulelesafari.com .

All the entries to our Join-the-Safari Global Ukulele Video Contest are in!
There 60 in all, from 15 countries:
6 public-domain and 54 original songs - many of which were written especially for the Contest!

We are absolutely delighted, awe-struck and inspired by every single video! Thank you to everyone who entered and everyone who has been watching them!

So, the exciting news is:

You can now VOTE for your favourite entries!

This will help us determine who goes into the Judging Stage.

You will be required to vote for one video per country-category, and one overall favourite.

Our reasoning is this will encourage people to watch all the videos, and give more exposure to videos from countries that are under-represented.

The country vote will obviously favour videos from countries with less entries (especially those which are the only entry!), but we see it as a bit like the Olympics - where the international spirit is key.
Even if you\\\'re from a small pool and perhaps not the best athlete in the world, you still have a chance to compete on the world stage.

We will also compensate countries with more entrants by allowing more of the vote for that category to go through to the next round.

We may also choose a couple of Wild-Cards ;-)

This said, the most important part of the vote will obviously be your selection of Overall Favourite!
This will determine who definitely goes through to the next round, and their ranking according to the vote.

We will publish the results of all voting statistics, and choose who goes to the voting stage accordingly.

So, without further ado, support your favourite entries by VOTING NOW (one vote per person):
http://ukulelesafari.com/contest.php

Oh, and another piece of news:
In the next couple of days we will begin a series of UKULELE AUCTIONS on Ebay of beautiful ukuleles supplied by our Sponsors. The proceeds will raise much-needed funds for the Safari Oz project.
Check out what will be on offer here:

Here is our latest update.

We are conducting some Ukulele Safari Oz fund-raising auctions on Ebay starting today.

We won\\\'t bother you with emails about every item, so let\\\'s just say that in subsequent auctions we\\\'ll be offering more ukuleles from our sponsors, including a Kiwaya KTS-6, Six Ohana sopranos and a Mike DaSilva custom tenor.

So if you\\\'re in the market for a uke and want to support the Safari, please visit our website to see what\\\'s on auction and what\\\'s coming up...

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

This is another B&H Newsletter going out to all members of ukulelesafari.com...

Ukulele Safari Oz is almost upon us, and we\\\'ve been rather busy trying to get it organised!
It starts on the 26th of January 2010 and finishes on the 26th of April... all too soon!

So far we\\\'ve bought tickets for Gensblue from Japan and Yalego from France (who will join us on the road for all 3 months of the trip) and have lodged all the official applications for them to come to Australia as performers.... that was a big one!

We also bought the prize ticket for Yannick Van Loo, winner of our \\\"Join the Safari\\\" Video Contest, to fly out from Belgium to attend the Melbourne Ukulele Festival in late February. Exciting!
We also recently announced how the Contest runners-up prizes will work:
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11616

The Schedule of the tour is coming together quite nicely, and uke clubs around the country are being very supportive, and scheduling events and get-togethers outside of their normal meet days to accommodate our visit.
There are also a number of individuals who are really going out of their way to help.
Western Australia is looking like it\\\'s going to be particularly fun, especially as we have never spent a lot of time there before.

You can see the performance schedule we\\\'ve got so far here:
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11626

There is also a Safari Shop selling merchandise now!
You can buy Safari Oz T-Shirts, Mobile phone Tags and B&H Stickers using PayPal here:
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11627

Another thing in the works is a compilation CD featuring tracks from the Safari Crew (Yalego, Gensblue, B&H) as well as some of the fine musicians we met on Safari in 2008, including Peter Madcat Ruth, Gerald Ross, Tim Sweeney, Fabio KoRyu Calabrò, Keonepax, Daisy Dobuyuki, The Uke Box, The Windy City Islanders, Max the Ukulele Punk Rocker, Ukulelezaza with Yannick Van Loo, Shigeto and more!
Shelley Rickey of The Uke Box is designing the cover, so it\\\'s gonna LOOK great too!
Let\\\'s just hope we can get it produced before the Safari starts!!!

If that isn\\\'t enough to do we also decided it would be great to make a DVD of the Join the Safari Contest entries... but more on this another time.

Finally, there are still some ukes up for grabs in the Safari Auction.
Right now there\\\'s a gorgeous Ohana \\\"Zebrawood\\\" soprano that\\\'s only up to AU$80 so far with free shipping anywhere in the world.
Details about this and other ukes coming up for auction can be found here:
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11548

Thanks for reading, and we hope everything is groovy with you!

Love,
B&H

PS - We almost forgot! There\\\'s been an exciting new development. There are a number of people talking about \\\"Joining the Safari\\\" in their own (or hired) cars, and coming along for a day, a week or... We love the idea! Like a Safari Caravan... it\\\'s gotta be fun!
So far there are folk from the USA, Japan, New Zealand and Australia who are or might be doing just that....
Please contact us if you like the idea...

Here is our latest update.

This is a mail-out to all members of ukulelesafari.com

Well there are only 2 weeks until the Safari Oz starts, and everything is organised except (hehe, a minor detail) the vehicle itself!
We are working hard on this small oversight (and panicking a wee bit) and... the show will go on!

If you are able, you can help us in all our Safari endeavours by pre-ordering the compilation CD we\\\'ve been working on and which will be available soon after the 25th of January:

Bosko & Honey Present... Ukulele Safari Volume 1.

It\\\'s a diverse and engaging compilation of 22 tracks from some of the wonderful artists we met on Safari in 2008.
The artwork and graphic design is by Shelley Rickey of The Uke Box, and it comes with a 16-page booklet and sticker.

You can read more about it here:

Just over a week now until Safari Oz begins, and we are starting to feel the excitement! Gensblue, Yan Yalego and our gorgeous camera operator Jo Robinson will be here in Kuranda very soon... and the Safari Oz Launch is at the Salt House in Cairns on Wednesday the 27th of January at 7pm - right on the marina by the water.

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

IMPORTANT UKULELE SAFARI OZ NEWS.

Hello all,

Well the Safari has finally reached Western Australia, having managed to safely cross the expanses of the Nullarbor.
Bosko, Honey, Yan Yalego and Gensblue are now in Augusta at a beautiful holiday house belonging to a lovely and generous lady from Perth who we met for the first time during our visit to the Sunshine Coast.
Already we have visited Denmark and Albany, where we were shown some of the wonders of the West, and have met some truly amazing people including many ukulele players, groups, clubs and an inspiring school program.

It is morning now, and all our clothes are washed and we are well rested.
Today we will drive to Margaret River and visit local legend, musician and luthier Scott Wise.
On Thursday it\\\'s off to the Perth area for the last of our scheduled gigs http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11626

All  the photos from the Safari so far can be found here http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11718 and looking through them, we are amazed all all the places we have been to, the experiences we have had and the incredible people we have met.
It has definitely been a Big Trip, and we feel very lucky that the Safari has made it this far.

It has recently become apparent that our original plan to continue right around the country after Perth has unfortunately become untenable.

The hire on our mobile home runs out the day after our gig at Kulcha on the 29th of March, and we have not been able to generate enough money to re-hire it or get another vehicle.
Another factor is that if we were to continue on to Broome, Darwin, Alice Springs and home to Kuranda by road we would be driving another 10,000kms or so - basically where we are would represent the half-way point.

As the distances are huge and gigs sparse, we may not be able to afford the fuel, food and accommodations required to make a round-trip possible.

While this is disappointing to us, it may also have some positive repercussions.
It will allow us to stay Out West a little longer, and catch up with some people and groups we did not have time to schedule.
It may even give us the opportunity also to take a little holiday before we fly Gens and Yan back to Cairns for their return flights home.

Perhaps we will find a fitting way to officially end Ukulele Safari Oz in terms of the video project, and maybe even begin editing the footage for your viewing pleasure sooner than we thought!

Regardless of what form the end of the Safari takes, we are ultimately very happy with how things have gone, and although we are unsure of a few things (how long we will stay in WA, how we will get our gear back home to Kuranda, how much money we will have and what else may happen in the meantime) we feel very fortunate to have done what we have - and hopefully that the people the Safari has touched along the way have gained something also.

Thank you to everyone who helped and continue to help us on this journey, and in our belief that music (and especially the ukulele) makes the world a smaller and friendlier place.

Love and Peace,
Bosko and Honey.

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Hi All!

Well, Bosko and Honey are back home again in tropical Kuranda where the wet season is in full swing!

We had such an incredible time on the 4-city tour that was The Melbourne Ukulele Festival Showcase Tour.
It really felt like being a part of history.
Dean Denham aka Dino Divo (and sometimes Dina Diva!), the founder of Australia\\\'s first Ukulele Club - The Melbourne Ukulele Kollective (MUK), the Director of the Melbourne Ukulele Festival (MUF) http://www.muf.org.au and impresario (in the truest sense of the word) of the MUF Showcase Tour http://www.muf.org.au/site/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=111&Itemid=70 , personally organised, funded, promoted, fed, watered, transported, housed and led us safely and with flair and love through a whirlwind tour of quality venues in Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane and Castlemaine.

Paul Moore of Ukuleles for Peace (Israel), Uni and Her Ukelele (USA), Ukulelezaza (Belgium), Jontom (Italy), Shelley O\\\'Brien (Canada) and Bosko and Honey were all recipients of the most magnificent gesture of love and sacrifice for art, music and community that we have ever been lucky enough to accept.

Dean told us he was inspired by our Ukulele Safari Oz last year and decided he wanted to do something similar in the lead-up to MUF.
Fortunately he was crazy enough to follow through, and our experience of the Tour was so vastly different to anything we\\\'ve done before.
Not only did we not have to organise anything, we weren\\\'t even on Safari - so no toting a video camera constantly!
All we had to do was perform and ENJOY! And enjoy we did.
Thank you, Dino!!!!

THEN - there was the Melbourne Ukulele Festival proper.
What an incredible 5 days!
>From the capacity-crowd opening night at the magnificent Thornbury Theatre with it\\\'s nostalgic opulence; to the sold-out shows at the very-Melbourne Northcote Social Club; to the Workshops, stalls and performances at the fabulously mingle-friendly Uniting Church Hall in Northcote; to the very centre of Melbourne\\\'s establishment cultural hub of the Arts Centre and surrounds including the famous Spiegeltent ; to the ever-comfy home of the Melbourne Ukulele Kollective\\\'s Klub MUK at 303 High Street - it could not have been better!
Not to mention the jamming, socialising, friends old and new - and performances!

If you want some impressions of the Tour, Bosko has been and is blogging about it here: http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11899

In regards to the Festival, we recommend you check out videos of us performing here (including 2 new vocal originals!): http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11618

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Hello everyone - here is a newsletter with a few links and ideas concerning what we\'ve been up to and what we\'re planning for the future.

Firstly, it\'s been a really good year since the Melbourne Ukulele Festival and Showcase Tour in Feb/March, and we\'ve been playing a lot locally, including the recent Cairns Ukulele Festival, which was a lot of fun too.

The main development this year is that we\'ve been writing songs with words. Five of them since February in fact.
They are:
1. Rain in the Summertime
2. Sunbird
3. Ukulele Love-In
4. Honeymoon
5. Tuck Me In (our latest and particularly recommended!)

You can watch them all here
http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11618

It also looks like we\'ll be going to Brisbane for a Uke Event in September and we\'re thinking about doing a mini Australian East Coast tour around that time, so please contact us if you\'re interested in B&H coming to visit for a performance/workshop after the middle of September and into October.

We\'re also thinking of going to the USA in 2012, so if you\'re over there and would like us to visit please let us know!

You can always keep track of confirmed upcoming performances here http://ukulelesafari.com/index.php?pid=11910
Also, we always post details on Facebook so, if you\'re on it and haven\'t already, please \"like\" us :) http://www.facebook.com/UkuleleSafari

Concerning the Safari Oz videos, we apologise for the hiatus in the editing. We hope we will be able to resume very shortly!

That\'s it for now so till next time,

Big Love,
Bosko & Honey

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Happy New Year from Bosko & Honey!

We hope 2012 is off to a good start for you - there are only 51 weeks left until 2013!

Firstly, here is a video of how we spent our New Years Eve:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQHlPNFrQqU

This newsletter is to let you know what we\'ve got planned for 2012 so far.
Initially we were planning to tour the USA, but we decided to wait a little longer due to lack of finances. Maybe next year.
It\'s a shame but it also allows us to do more in Australia.

Here\'s the plan so far:

FEB 3/4 - The Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival, NSW We\'re really looking forward to returning to the Blue Mountains, and the festival is looking great. Here\'s a link to the festival facebook page with information about the performers and workshops:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Blue-Mountains-Ukulele-Festival/252471711935

MARCH 7 -  The Vanguard, Sydney, supporting BENNY CHONG.
We are over the moon to be supporting the legendary jazz ukulele player Benny Chong from Hawaii. And the Vanguard in Newtown is such a great venue - we were lucky enough to play there as part of the Melbourne Ukulele Festival Showcase Tour last year. This event is hosted by Cameron Murray of Kamuke Ukulele Magazine.
If you are in Sydney, don\'t miss the chance to see this genuine world-class musician.
Here is the facebook event listing:
http://www.facebook.com/events/147851931992783
You can buy tickets from the venue here:
http://www.thevanguard.com.au/shows/2012/03/07/benny-chong/10560

MARCH 8-11 - The Melbourne Ukulele Festival We\'ll be back! This year the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain are playing at the Arts Centre, with the rest of the festival at the one venue - The Trades Hall, which is really great news. Wonderful to have everything happening in one central place.
Visit MUF for all the info:
http://www.muf.org.au

MARCH 12-25 - Heading North Tour, with B&H and U.K.E from France For 2 weeks we\'ll be travelling from Melbourne to Brisbane by train, on tour with U.K.E from Paris, an amazing duo comprising of Lionel (the K.) Hubert on ukes and loops and Antoine (Josh) Ladoué on tablas and other percussion. Now that\'s gonna be fun!
You can see U.K.E\'s website here:
You can see videos and other great stuff from the K here:
http://thek.kalikay.com/The_K_official_site/videos.html
SO, if you are somewhere between Melbourne and Brisbane and you or your uke club would like to host a concert and workshops with Bosko & Honey and U.K.E, please contact us!

Well that\'s enough to keep us busy for now, but we\'ve also applied to perform at this years Cairns Ukulele Festival.
It\'s not too late to do so yourself, and performers can apply online via the festival website:
http://cairnsukulelefestival.net

Wishing you all the best!
Peace and Love,

Bosko & Honey

In other news, if you\'re coming to this year\'s Cairns Ukulele Festival there\'s a fantastic BUILD YOUR OWN UKE course being run again by local luthier Allen McFarlen with Micheal Connor from NSW.
It\'s been sold-out 2 years running, so take a look at Allen\'s website for more info (tell him B&H sent you!)...

Also, our friend Pat from Western Australia is organising a Ukulele Retreat with the one and only KIMO HUSSEY from Hawaii.
It\'s an all-inclusive 3-day affair in Albany, and the wonderful Margaret River luthier and musician Scott Wise will be there too.
More details via Ukulele Perth...
http://ukuleleperth.com/

Upon returning home to Kuranda in late March we\'re gonna start editing the Ukulele Safari Oz videos again! Apologies to all who have been patiently waiting, but we\'ve been under a bit of financial pressure for a while, so it\'s been hard to set aside the time to edit.
Things are looking up, so you can expect a return to YouTube form soon!

That\'s all for now, and apologies to our non-Australian subscribers for the Oz-centric news!

Love,
B&H

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Hello everyone!
It\'s been a while since our last newsletter, so we thought we\'d let you know what\'s been happening...

First up, a couple of video links:

Here\'s a new music video featuring the fabulous AJ Leonard (Melbourne) and SETO (Japan) in a one-off art-band project called AJ\'s ASYLUM.
The song was written, performed live, recorded, shot and edited within 3 days and it\'s called \"Another Day In Paradise\"...
Pump up the volume!

Here\'s a complete half-hour performance by Bosko & Honey at the fabulous Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival earlier this year.
Thanks to Ray Gurney for the footage!

In other news, we\'ve been pretty busy performing recently, and you can always see what we\'ve been up to and what\'s coming up here on our website:

Notably we made our comedy debut recently at the Sit Down Comedy Club in Cairns as well as our \"roots\" debut at the Kuranda Roots Festival.
We\'ve also been hosting house concerts under our home in Kuranda in association Arthouse Cairns.
These concerts are called \"Underhouse Kuranda\", and the last one attracted over 50 lovely people who were treated to Japanese food and 8 acts from around the country.
We also played at this year\'s Cairns Ukulele Festival and hosted our second post-fest \"Ukulele BBQ\" at the beautiful Kuranda Amphitheatre which nestles in the rainforest up here.

One of the upcoming gigs we\'re very excited about is we\'ve been booked on the main stage for the Cairns Festival \"Carnival on Collins\" on the 2nd of September.
It\'s a day that attracts up to 40,000 people so it will definitely be our biggest audience yet!

2012 was a pretty full year for us with lots of music locally and around the country.
We\'re looking forward to some more travel in 2013 as well as more local events, including the \"Underhouse\" series of house concerts we\'ve been hosting here in Kuranda.

Here\'s what\'s coming up so far...

Jan 25 - Feb 24
\"Viva La Uke\" New Zealand Summer Tour 2013 with The Nukes.
We\'re really excited to be touring with The Nukes, the fabulous ukulele and vocal trio from Auckland who we met at last year\'s Melbourne Ukulele Festival.
The 8-gig concert and workshop tour will be crisscrossing the North Island, and it will be our first time playing there.... we can\'t wait!
All the tour details are on The Nukes website http://www.thenukes.co.nz/gigs.html

March 1 - 3
The Melbourne Ukulele Festival (MUF)
Yes, we\'re playing MUF once more and this time we\'re looking forward to meeting Benny Chong and James Hill and Ann Davison again and can\'t wait to meet the Big Muffin Serious Band... long-time heros of ours from NZ.
It\'s gonna be a ripper!
All the info is here on the MUF website http://www.muf.org.au/site/

March 20
Underhouse #4
We\'l be hosting another house concert in Kuranda, this time featuring the legendary slide and experimental performer Mike Cooper from the UK who is based in Rome http://www.cooparia.com/ and the as-yet underexposed \"Polymantra\" from Cairns. We met this drums/guitar/samples/vocals duo last year at Arthouse Cairns and they blew  our minds with their slightly weird and very danceable grooves.

Increasingly we get the feeling we\'re living in the future, with the technologies of our life resembling the science fiction of our youth more and more every day!
May your 2013 be a happy, altruistic and naked one!

Love and Peace from Bosko & Honey.

Dear Uketeufel
Here is our latest update.

Hello from Bosko & Honey!

Recently we returned to the fabulous Pegasus Studios in Cairns to record the title track of our upcoming new album, \"The Universe Will Provide\".

It\'ll be released in November and most of the recording will be done over July and August.
It\'s our first full-length album, with at least 12 original songs, and we want to have a really good crack at it!
We\'ve decided to try Crowdfunding for the first time to help make it the best B&H recording to date.

So, you can hear the quality of the recordings in a sample of the title track in this promo video:
http://youtu.be/fhi1Lm3CdUg

And you can have a look at our Crowdfunding Campaign here:
http://pozible.com/universe

You can simply Pre-Order the digital album or the album on CD, but there are other \"rewards\" too - including \"Tuck Me In!\" T-Shirts and Skype ukulele lessons with Bosko for up to a year...

You can really help us by having a look at the project and sharing it with your friends.

Thank you very much, and as always...
Love and Peace,
Bosko & Honey
