Sorry Uke-aholics if this is a bit redundant, but I wanted some New-Uke-Bies to know:
I want to recommend DoctorUke at www.doctoruke.com because I am continually finding new stuff. I really like the way he starts with simpler songs and works on quickly developing chord development. Doctor Ukes\'s songs are put into (5) formats:
1) Song Lyrics
2) Song w/ Lyrics, Chords and Diagrams
3) Song w/ Lyrics, Chords w/ Diagrams removed to help memorization
4) Many of the Songs have Bartitone Chords
5) Many of the Songs have an mp3 of the song that plays concurrently so that you can hear how it should sound at speed.

Hello Uke Playing Friends:
(I sent this out BCC to prevent any spam)
It\'s me Jeff again. I haven\'t been communicating much lately but I have come across Al Hunt who is from England and has the website www.ukulelehunt.com. I think Al is perusing the internet full time. He posts current You-Tube videos and has quite a blog, a lot of great links, and he\'s doing a series on fingerpicking that I think many of you may enjoy.
I was posting some collections of You Tube and Ukulele Disco videos in themes and posting them on Mike DaSilva\'s Berkeley Ukulele Club Bulletin Board under the Scandinavian pseudonym Lars Larsson. Mike has disabled the BB due to a plethura of porn, phishing and junk. Al has been reposting one of the 26 I had posted on every Saturday.
Al does a lot of research and he and some friends post TAB for different uke songs or riff\'s for uke songs. I think it is worth checking this out even if you just do some searching through his links.
[Al -- can you tell me how to let my friends get your finger picking lessons?]

P.S. Wendy and I went to the Laney College flea market this morning. There was an older, say 70-ish, chinese man playing a traditional instrument that looks like a half broomstick with a mini bongo drum at the bottom, two-metal strings, and a violin bow with the horse-hairs between the two metal strings. He also had it attached to a car-battery sized amp. As I walk by I put a dollar in his case. He thanked me and stopped me and set me down on his stool. Put the instrument in my hand and let me try to play... What fun!

To my uke friends:
I found this ukulele video and like it on several levels. This is one of the 30 minute videos put out each week by Midnight Ukulele Disco. The start is a piece of modern art and it is not for everyone. Then it is followed by Jason\'s Kegg\'s Ukuleles of Love and his little striptease that he has in each video. Once past this the real good part starts. Khabu plays a DaSilva baritone ukulele. He plays it beautifully and plays ukulele jazz. I think some of you will really enjoy this.
(For those who may find the first part uninteresting, let the program load and move the little button to about the 1/4 point)

The Lyrics are:
I like you a lot
Frankly, I\'m attracted to you
I think you are hot
Even in the snow
And everyone\'s a square
But you\'ve got rounded corners baby
I think you\'re aware metaphors are weird
CHORUS:
You\'re the Ren to my Stimpy
The olive in my glass
When you\'re gone I\'m like a car
That\'s run out of gas
Even wearing your retainer
When your hair\'s a mess
Even when your nose is running
I think you\'re the best
You\'re the on I want
To organize my shelves
First we\'ll sort the books by author
and content as well
Then we can make out
and maybe drink a beer
I like you best of all
my software engineer
CHORUS

Diesmal gibt Jeff gute Tank-Tipps weiter -auch Ukulelenspieler müssen schließlich mal tanken.
I have cut and pasted it so it is shorter and eliminates some political commentary. JEFF
TIPS ON PUMPING GAS
I don\'t know what you are paying for gasoline.... but here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money\'s worth for every gallon...
Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the gro und temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the
afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you\'re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some other liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you\'re getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom. Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.
SHARE THESE TIPS WITH OTHERS!
We had a 2 young men come to the Berkeley Ukulele Club for the first time Wednesday 3-12-08. They started a ukulele club on the Diablo Valley (Junior) College Campus. This man is quite vibrant and has an amazingly sharp mind. It was a pleasure to see him perform at 100-1/2 years old. The video quality doesn\'t do him much justice.

Wie klein die Welt doch ist. :D Ich habe 1992 in San Leandro,CA im \"Marina Inn\" gewohnt, direkt am Yachthafen. Ein schönes kleines Städtchen in der San Francisco Bay Area. :D
So, und jetzt schau ich mir die Video Links an an. :D

We have the great privilege at the Berkeley Ukulele Club of having the extremely talented Steven Strauss as a senior member. Steven adds so much to the club. He has a blog, and in in one of his latest entries he shares a few videos. Some of you may not have seen a Risa Solid body ukulele before. Yep, 4 strings but a little different geometry you will see.
When you go to the page just CLICK ONCE on the triangle in the middle of the video or else it will go to YouTube and you will hear the song twice about 1 second apart.

I must say that I have seen Steven and parts of the Old Puppy twice live and they sound 10X better. But I hope you will enjoy these videos nonetheless.

This was sent to me from Pam in the Berkeley Ukulele Club. It is a cute song with ukulele chords and lyrics. Sorry Rush it isn\'t a McCain song... You can hear the song and find the lengthy lyrics at the bottom. Thanks PamE.
{This is for fun -- not to make a political statement here!}
On the Barack Obama site, a group calling itself "Ukes for Obama" have posted lyrics and mp3 for "Aloha Mama, We're Voting for Obama" are here:

UKES FOR OBAMA
We\'re ukulele players from New York and New Jersey who play once a week in Madison Square Park in Manhattan. We usually talk about current events between songs, and someone suggested we come up with a song about voting for Senator Obama. Thus was born Ukes for Obama! We thought, wouldn\'t it be great if we could create our own group and reach out to players and fans of ukulele music and also get people energized about the campaign? We invite other players from around the country to contribute their own content that gets people talking about the issues. We hope this group will be a hub for ukulele players who share our desire for a better America, and who want to create some music together in a fun and positive environment. Let us know if you are in the NYC area and are interested in participating in the v ideo shoot! Thanks for stopping by! I was looking for ukulele tabs for the song Tico-Tico. Googled and found this site, \"liveukulele\". There are also a bit of good info for those still working on learning tabs
Most of what is here I have found on other sites. This looks to be a compilation.

Happy Holidays Uker Friends:
I found some good tablature for ukulele that I have posted and shared on my blog, http://humbleuker.blogspot.com/, but wanted to share with everybody in this e-mail.
Here is a 48 page booklet created by a German Ukulele Club member Wilfred Welti. It contains many songs in tablature form. The text is in German but there are many songs here. They are primarily classical but there are some traditional Tom Dooley, Scarborough Fair tunes as well.
Do not overlook these arrangements!

There is another generous spirit out there who has created some ukulele tablature. Below is the link to his site. Click on the labels on the right hand side and you will find many songs there.

I have also found some bluegrass tablature from Ken Middleton. He has posted many arrangements and although he\'s from the U.K. he has several blueglass arrangements, here\'s an example of his tab work. Check him out on YouTube for much more...

I also have some books that I could recommend for those looking for last minute gifts for any uke playing friends:
1) John King\'s book: Famous Duets & Solos for the Ukulele
2) Jumpin\' Jim\'s Blues Ukulele by Fred Sokolow
3) James Hill & J. Chalmers Doane Ukulele in The Classroom (order in C6 tuning in US)
4) Learn to play Fingerstyle Solos for Ukulele
5) Lyle Lite
6) The Beatles for Ukulele
7) The Bari Best (for Baritone players)
I have them all so if you have any questions just e-mail me back.

I thought this got out to everyone but my mom said she didn\'t get it. My mom says I\'m terrific, so take a listen
Here\'s our song set...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMoGW9rRiSo Hanalei Moon (Bob & Chuck)
Judy Plicka on bass and ukulele (Wearing a blue hat & blue suede shoes)
Pete (hidden) on drums
There is some lisping going on, we think the camera was fading, because it cut off Hanalei Moon and missed me singing Garota de Ipanema and the Sheila and I singing the Girl from Ipanema, and Judy\'s instrumental version of the Girl from Ipanema which was awesome! And Jay and Robbie ended our set with a version of Keb Mo\'s Tell Everybody I Know.
