Ukulelenboard

Hey gang!

Sorry, but too tired to write in German tonight.  Must be the crummy Bud beer, but my back is still a pain when I sit at the computer for extended periods. I didn\'t even visit my girlfriend this weekend!  Vnm!!!

Anyway, I walked over to buy some more Martin soprano strings at my local Ottawa Folklore Centre.  I find that the new Martin strings sound best on a PONO.  Those Ko\'olau gold strings just don\'t cut the mustard.  

I also bought a GREEN HOHNER harmonica on a whim for $4 that was on the counter.  hehe  

Anyway, I saw a Mainland soprano uke for about $320.  Maple or something.  I didn\'t like the scratchy white strings but the instrument was very nice.   I\'m more of a STRUMMER so those gut strings that pick up all the finger sounds do not appeal to me.  I like that PONO sleek sound.

Anyone here have a MAINLAND?  I\'m still thinking of buying it and changing the strings.

Same procedure as last year!  ;-)

My wife has got a Mainland Mahagony Tenor and it´s brilliant, very well made and a nice and warm sound.

I\'ve never heard or seen a Mainland, but at Ukulele Underground they are praised all the time.

I´ve got a Mainland Sopran boatshape. Its very well made and its sound is also warm and nice.

Update:  Vor 30 Minuten ging ich die Ukulele zu kaufen.  Ich bin impulsiv. Vielleicht ist es mein \"cabin fever\" in Kanada. (Lagerkoller)  ODER UAS!!! hehe

Sie ist eine Mainland RED CEDAR Soprano.  Ich mag nicht die weissen Saiten.  Ich verwechsele sie spater für die Martin Saiten.   Nicht heute.

Der Preis enthält 2 \"Uke Tune-ups.\"

Es gab auch andere Mainlands - Tenor, Concert.

Ich setzte diesen Thread fort,
denn ich durfte heue meine Mainland Ukulele in Empfang nehmen, die ich in den USA bestellt habe.
Vollmassive Mahagoni Ukulele mit slottet Headstock (was es sonst nur bei Tenor-Ukulelen gibt).
Ich finde diese Ukulelen sehr preiswert und konnte nicht widerstehen, mal eine zu erstehen  :mrgreen:
Optisch gefällt sie mir einfach super,  klanglich muss ich sie erst noch richtig kennen lernen, der erste Eindruck ist jedoch gut.  

sehr edel, vor allem das Ton in Ton binding und der headstock - gratuliere - aber wie preiswert ist denn preiswert?

Glückwunsch!   Sie ist schöner als meine.

Aber ich habe meine Ukulele einem Mitarbeiter/Studenten gegeben.

$239.50  (wobei 1$= 0.9 CHF), Versandkosten $42 , + in Zollgebühren , alles in allem kostet mich das Instrument  mit Koffer um die 350 CHF
 na, ja, preiswert ist immer relativ, Kalas sind vergleichbar in Preis und Qualität, aber die muss ich auch aus Deutschland kommen lassen mit 30 Euro Versandkosten und Zoll!

Der slotted Headstock sieht ja super aus.

I have two mainlands ukes.
A concert red cedar top with a solid rosewood body.
Sounds very warm and very loud, beatifull.

And a soprano pineapple red cedar with a solid rosewood body.
It sounds also very warm and a little less loud than the concert.

They sound exacly the same as the red cedars from Ohana.

They are both well made with a perfect action.
