Gruss Dieter

Here are the finished instruments:

Here is a nice shot of the workshop: Jens the german delegate from Saxony is in the foreground :)

And evening celebrations:

I am thinking of the workshop for next year - Uklectic or Travel Uke with pickup? It has to be either because of the differences in the course content.

Hi Pete,
I wish I had the opportunity to be with you....
Please, can you inform me about the \"date 2011\" in time-I have to plan my holidays until the end of the year 2010....
-and I promise to train my english language...
-and I promise not to snore at night any more....:-))
greetings,
scrabble

Pete Howlett

We are thinking the same time - first week in AUgust. However, there is a lot of planning that goes into this so we ask people just to have the idea of doing it until we can firm up the accomodation... Just think about it for next year :)

Thanks-I will have the idea to have my holiday at the first weekend of August next year...   :-))

This is such an interesting event!  Though, I\'d only want to make a soprano uke.

Assembling a ukulele in the land of my ancestors SUOMI...  playing the Kalevala (epic runes) on that uke in Suomi,  drinking funny wine called \"Chill Out\" (see photo), bonfires, and I can even speak some Finn and German.    hehe

This will be A MUST for me at one point.    :D

Unless there is a big demand it is unlikely that I will build sopranos in this setting again - it is very, very hard. Despite the illusion of it being a cute and simple instrument getting neck alignment and angle correct is a significant challenge for a professional luthier let alone an enthusiastic beginner. The two lads who had already done a year at luthier school will testify to that!. I am designing cutaway travek ukes with elctro acoustic pickups for the next build... follow my website for more information :)

This mean you will not built Sopranos next year? Sorry my english is not so well.

Pete Howlett

Yes, unless I get a lot of interest in building acoustic sopranos.  The build next year is most likely to be cutaway tenor or concert electro travel ukes. I am planning the protype now.

Dieter

i am only interested in building acoustic sopranos  :?

Yes, me too.

Pete Howlett

Well, if you both and six others want to build sopranos then we will have to do it won\'t we. Don\'t give up on it. I\'ve got a year to figure out how to make it easier :)

Hi Pete,

Thanks for explaining this.  I\'m sure you could rally enough German friends if you held the workshop in Germany.   Though, Finland has special meaning for me.
